So how do two people who live on opposite sides of the country end up falling in love and getting married? WORK! Given the amount of time we all spend at work, where else can two people who traveled around the country week after week develop a strong friendship that continued once they were no longer working together. Two people who talked everyday arguing over Biggie vs. Tupac, the 49ers vs. the Panthers and In and Out vs. Bojangles completely unaware of what was developing before them. Friends often weighed in asking when we were going to make it “official” and start dating, we would both laugh and remark that we were just good friends. As that friendship grew we started to realize that it was much more, the love we had for each other could no longer be contained in the friendship category. We may have been slow but we eventually got there and the last few years together built on the bedrock of friendship have been the happiest. We can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together. The Proposal: We first visited Puerto Vallarta at the wedding of some dear friends, we fell in love with the city and decided we would make it our go to place for New Years every year. Kent made dinner reservations for January 1 - a romantic dinner at La Palapa Restaurant right on the beach. The plan was to propose at sunset capturing it all on my Go Pro but after a very lengthy dinner that plan went awry. No worries, a quick improvisation and I suggested we ask the waiter to take picture and capture the moment. As we were posing for the picture, I dropped down to one knee and proposed. The phone was on record instead of photo so I could capture the moment to share with all of you. At first, Tamika was confused and thought I was getting down to tie my shoes, she soon realized what was going on and that was it. That day she made one of the happiest people in the world.

We are beyond excited to marry and spend the rest of our lives together and even more excited to do so in front of our friends and family with those closest to us standing beside us.

There are tons of great things to do in Punta Cana, hopefully you will build in some time for additional activities and excursions. These can be booked once you get the hotel or you can use the destination wedding website link found on the accommodations tab to pre-book and pay for your activities.

Punta Cana is the name of a region in the easternmost tip of the Dominican Republic. Covering about 420,000 m2 (approximately 1,100 acres), the region is home to a coastline of sandy white beaches and to a "town" of the same name.

Air travel: Plan to fly into Punta Cana directly, airport code is PUJ.

Tourist Card: All visitors need a tourist card to enter the Dominican Republic. You can get a tourist card before travel from the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in London, or on arrival at the airport at a cost of US$10 or equivalent. We recommend just bringing $10 per person with you and pay at the airport rather than trying to arrange ahead of time.

Ground Transportation: If you have booked through the website, your transportation and transfers will be handled. Please follow the instructions in your travel documents.

Currency: The local currency is the Dominican Peso. Its value fluctuates between 30-40 pesos per US dollar. Although any currency can be changed into pesos, it should be noted that in some situations it may be difficult to exchange pesos back into your original currency. We recommend exchanging only small amounts of money at a time to avoid any inconveniences. In the area all shops, restaurants, bars, excursion companies accept US dollars, Euros, Canadian dollars, British pounds, but it is a bit cheaper to pay in Dominican pesos.

Do not exchange money outside a recognized bank or exchange house!
